Important information: Participants should read Barbara Osterloff's book: "Landscape: Conversations with Maja Komorowska"  / "Pejzaż. Rozmowy z Mają Komorowską dawne i nowe", (published by Instytut Teatralny, 2018). We ask participants to bring comfortable outfit and shoes.

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKSHOPS:

We invite you to a unique Master Class meeting with a leading Polish actress and theatre pedagogue - Maja Komorowska. Participants of this meeting will get a chance to learn what has the biggest influence on shaping actor's imagination. How important is to wake up the memory of the body in actor's training. How to make the spontaneity and discipline not to exclude, but to intensify each other in actor's workshop. Participants of the Master Class will also learn about the significant role of a word - in building and creating actor's stage presence - based on the experiences of Maja Komorowska in working with greatest Polish theater artists and directors: Jerzy Grotowski, Jerzy Jarocki and Krystian Lupa. 

INFORMATION ABOUT THE LEADER: 

Maja Komorowska - (Maria Tyszkiewicz) born on December 23, 1937 in Warsaw. Theater and film actress, teacher. Professor at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Warsaw, associated with this school since 1983. In 1960 she graduated from the Acting Department (Puppetry Department) of the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków. In 1963, she passed an extramural actor's examination. She made her debut in 1960 at the Groteska Theater in Krakow, where she worked in the 1960/61 season. In the seasons from 1961/62 to 1967/68 she belonged to the group of the 13 Rzędów Theater in Opole - transformed in 1962 into Teatr Laboratorium (from 1965 with headquarters in Wrocław) - under the direction of Jerzy Grotowski.After seven years of working in the theater of Jerzy Grotowski, she joined the team of Współczesny Theater in Wrocław and acted as its actress in the 1968/69 and 1969/70 seasons, and later in the 1970/71 and 1971/72 seasons of the Polski Theater in Wrocław. From 1972, she is in the team of the Współczesny Theater in Warsaw. She has worked with many prominent theater directors: Erwin Axer, Maciej Englert, Jerzy Grotowski, Jerzy Jarocki, Helmut Kajzar, Jerzy Krasowski, Krystyna Skuszanka, Bohdan Korzeniewski, Krystian Lupa, Krzysztof Warlikowski, and cinematographers: Krzysztof Kieślowski, Tadeusz Konwicki, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussim, Edward Żebrowski and others. She played in Polish and foreign films. She created over 30 significant roles in television theater performances. She currently plays in the spectacles: "Despite everything" by J. Murrell directed by Waldemar Śmigasiewicz at the Współczesny Theater and in Happy Days by S. Beckett directed by Antoni Libera as a guest at the Dramatyczny Theatre in Warsaw.

She received many Polish and foreign awards for outstanding acting creations, including the Great Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2011), and the French Commander's insignia of the Order of Arts and Letters (2010) awarded by the French Embassy.

Involved in social affairs, during the martial law period she worked in the Primate's Social Council and in the Committee for Assistance of the Interned and their Families, later in S.O.S with Jacek Kuroń. Today she is a member of the Oncology Hospice Council.

In 1993, Maja Komorowska published a book entitled "31 dni maja" (Tenten Publishing House), in 2004 "Landscape" talks with Barbara Osterloff and Maja Komorowska (Errata Publishing House), and in 2014 "Neverending questions", a book written with Tadeusz Sobolewski (published by the Mazovia Institute of Culture in cooperation with Publishing House Czuły Barbarzyniec Press). In 2017 "Landscape. Conversations with Maja Komorowska, old and new " Barbara Ostrloff (Zbigniew Raszewski Theater Institute).

REGISTRATION TO THE WORKSHOP:

Registration to the workshop is organized by CHOREA Theatre.
Registration is open since 10th July 2018.

The registration e-mail must contain Your name and title of the workshop and short information about why You are interested in participating in the workshop.

WORKSHOP REGULATIONS:

- Complete payment for participation in the workshops must be transfered to CHOREA Theatre bank account during 7 days from the date of registration, otherwise the reservation will be canceled.
- Number of the bank account is: Alior Bank: 95 2490 0005 0000 4530 5405 9285 (Swift code: ALBPPLDW). Write Your name and the title of the workshop in the title of the bank transfer.
- CHOREA Theatre will return the payment to the sender's account, if You resign from participating in the workshops until 10th August 2018. If the participant resigns after 10th August 2018, CHOREA Theatre will not be able to return the payment.
- In case if CHOREA Theatre will not collect the optimal number of participants, required by the workshop leaders, the workshops will be canceled and CHOREA Theatre will return all payments to the sender's account.
- Coffee, tea and water will be available for participants during the workshops. CHOREA Theatre does not provide accommodation and meals to the participants. Polish will be used throughout the workshop.
