Mass strikes of peasants and workers violently suppressed by police and military, ghetto benches and pogroms of Jewish communities, secret schemes behind the scenes of politics and the war menace over the Europe... welcome to 1937.
After the last year debut and continuing tours The Rebelious Street Band "Hańba!" comes back with another full studio album "Będą bić!" (‘Beatings are coming!’) released by Antena Krzyku and Karoryfer Lecolds.
The musicians continue their fictional musical story in which the punk rock did not emerge in the late 70s but in turbulent times of interwar Poland. The band make their way using works of themost famous polish poets (such as Julian Tuwim, Władysław Broniewski, Jerzy Jurandot) and theproper instruments of that specific era - banjo, tuba, accordion and clarinet.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Band Hańba! was founded in Krakow. They first performed live in their hometown in 2013. Hańba! in 2013-2014, released three EPs by their own publishing house Karoryfer Lecolds, in 2013 they released the album "Figa z makiem", while in 2014, "Prosto w serce" and "Guma i gówno". In 2015, the band's debut album was released by Antena Krzyku. On February 7, 2016, the band's debut full-length album was released. In 2017, the album "Będą bić!" was released.
Musicians use traditional instruments for expressive punk arrangements. The lyrics of the band are their own texts or poems by inter-war poets, including Julian Tuwim, Jan Brzechwa, Władysław Broniewski and Lucjan Szenwald. The inspiration is pre-war Poland, with its revolutionary and anti-patriotic poetry, cabarets, workers' culture, political and ludic folklore. The band combines various musical styles, including punk, folk and klezmer.
Hańba! is the laureate of the Czesław Niemen special prize, on 17th edition of the Polish Radio Music Festival "New Tradition", for "special expression and stage courage" (2014). In 2018, the band became the laureate of Polityka's Passports in the popular music category for "musical-literary-political reconstruction, which gives a surprising effect "for the album" Będą bić! ", where they" hit militarism, nationalism, xenophobia and warn against an increasingly inevitable disaster ".
Only in 2016 and 2017 (or, as the band would say, 1936 and 1937) Hańba! played at Primavera Festival 2017, Open'er Festival 2017, SXSW 2017, Colours of Ostrava 2017, Pohoda Festival 2016, Spring Break Festival 2017.
